Barbie's Doggie Bakery, LLC is your dog's dessert bakery, specializing in all-natural organic treats with no preservatives. Tiffany Boyd, the owner, has worked for over twenty years in the veterinary field. She opened her very own dog bakery in 2012. She loves baking treats for your furry friends and knows they're going to enjoy the variety of offerings.
LOVEPAWS was originally founded as a shelter intake prevention program in 2019 with a mission of keeping pets in homes and out of our local shelters through community outreach. Our outreach efforts are targeted towards helping pet owners in low-income and underserved communities in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, Maryland.
Operation Paws for Homes is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of dogs and cats who have overcome great odds and deserve wonderful, caring forever homes. These dogs and cats are rescued from overcrowded shelters in the southern region of the United States, including South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Virginia. We partner with local shelters as needed. We also rescue a few international dogs by partnering with shelters and rescues in India and Kosovo who rescue dogs from dangerous and deplorable conditions.
Pawsh Dog Wash exists for the sole purpose of giving your pet the best hygienic care we can through means that are best suited for them. We do not believe in one single way to handle every pet. Some dogs require slow and steady during their visit while others need a more firm tone and hand. No two dogs were created equal and we understand that. At Pawsh we do not force things on your dog that we do not find necessary. Some places will try to sell Blueberry Facials, mud baths and specialized treatments- we don’t believe in that, and we don’t believe your pet should tolerate more than necessary for their health and hygiene. Pawsh is here for your pet, not your money.

With seven cats and a dog at home, it would be safe to assume that James Ketola is quite an animal lover. His love of animals and interest in photography merged when he began volunteering at the Prince George’s County Animal Shelter. After more than 1500 new pup portraits and several hundred person-pup interaction photos, James decided to make his services commercially available. His specialty is working with natural light at one of the many beautiful parks and trails in the area. Whether it be the warmth of golden hour or the mystique of a shady forest, he is ready to capture the essence of your furry companion. Through his volunteer activities, James has developed a great deal of admiration for the hard work that the Rescues put in to bring pups into their furever homes, in addition to the tireless efforts the Shelter staff puts into feeding, socializing, and cleaning the animals. Happy Paws Photography is an effort to support these fantastic individuals, and 10% of every sale goes directly to local Rescues; the remainder goes to the resources required to provide free services to the local shelters and Rescues. Happy Paws Photography also aims to foster and grow a community around values of sustainability, equity, and inclusion by partnering with other small businesses that share these values.

The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail supports the National Park Service in keeping the trail safe and welcoming for all users through education, trail maintenance, and community events. The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail hold regular activities for the public as well as monthly organizing meetings and volunteer opportunities. All are welcome to volunteer, attend events, and get involved in projects.

To keep Snouts & Stouts as safe and fun as possible, we require that 1 human accompany every dog. That means for every dog coming in, there must be an owner with that dog. One owner cannot bring two dogs into Snouts & Stouts. Also, each owner must be at least 18 years old. However, there is no limit on the number of people you can bring so bring all your friends and have a great time! Any friend or loved one you bring with you counts towards our policy so if you have two dogs and bring one or more friends then both of your dogs will be allowed in. This 1-to-1 dog-to-human policy is also a rule set by the Virginia Health Department that we must abide by. We Offer 10% off for all first responders, active duty military and veterans on all food, drinks, services and memberships! This establishment includes Day Pass, Memberships, Day Care, Dog Wash and Restaurants.

DAR&E is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of homeless Dobermans in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Delaware, and in portions of both eastern West Virginia and southern Pennsylvania. Our primary directive is to provide veterinary care and foster homes for rescued Dobermans and to place them into loving, permanent homes through our adoption process. We provide support and camaraderie to adoptive families throughout the lives of the Dobermans we rescue. Once a DAR&E dog; always a DAR&E dog.
Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar is a place where you can relax and visit with adoptable cats, learn about the history of the area, and grab food or a drink. Our goal is to provide an environment where cats can get out of cages, learn to socialize, and meet their new families. Cat cafés have played a role in reducing euthanasia rates as well as helping crowded shelters rescue more cats. With a location in historic Old Town Alexandria, Mount Purrnon celebrates early U.S. history! The café has local reference guides, maps, and books for visitors or locals to take advantage of this great area. There is also free Wi-Fi and day/monthly passes for those who wish to telework from the cat café! Marlees Misfits began in summer 2024 as a nonprofit entity to help us better serve our resident adoptable cats. Our focus will be on care for seniors, cats with special needs, and medical emergencies. We provide housing and care for cats from high-risk shelters, owner surrenders, and overcrowded cat rescues. We provide behavior and medical support for cats deemed “less adoptable” due to age, illness, or injury. Funds raised are used to provide supplies and vet care for cats housed at Mount Purrnon Cat Café. Other funds are used to help cats at other rescues and education and outreach.

We donate 10% of our profits to animal welfare organizations, starting with the amazing foster organization that brought us to Tucker. Since 1946, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) has been a resource for our community and a shelter for homeless animals. Through adoptions, spay and neuter assistance, education, community service and outreach, the AWLA plays a key role in promoting responsible pet care across Northern Virginia. The AWLA has worked with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control, protection and sheltering services since 1989. We operate the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility accepting any and all animals brought to us from within the jurisdiction. We have made a commitment to help animals in need with the help of our amazing and animal-loving community. We care for more than 2,000 animals per year, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, iguanas and chinchillas. Our specially-trained staff also assist area wildlife that have been injured or are in distress, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat or transferring them to licensed wildlife rehabilitators for care and eventual release.
