Mongolia has achieved a historic milestone with the passage of its 1st ever animal protection legislation, The Pet Law, thanks to years of Dedicated Advocacy by Lucky Paws and the support of over 17,000 In Defense of Animals supporters.

This landmark law ENDS the cruel practice of Shooting Homeless Dogs, Prioritizes Birth Control to Reduce Stray Populations, and Establishes a Framework for Responsible Guardianship, Granting Animal Custodians Rights while Imposing Essential Duties such as Spaying, Neutering, Registration, and Proper Care.

The law also Regulates Breeders, Bans the Sale of Cats and Dogs in Pet Shops, and provides Protections for Legal Animal Guardians, setting a New Global Standard for Animal Welfare.

While the law promises a More Humane Future, thousands of animals in Ulaanbaatar still face harsh conditions, and continued support - including fundraising for essential veterinary equipment like an X ray machine - is critical to ensuring the law’s enforcement and the safety and health of Mongolia’s street animals.

*Whiskers, Paws and Love® wholeheartedly celebrates this historic achievement and stands firmly with efforts to protect Mongolia’s animals. We believe that laws like The Pet Law are essential for creating lasting change and fostering a compassionate society. We are committed to supporting initiatives that provide care, resources, and hope for animals in need, both locally and around the world.
