*"Animal abuse is a widespread and serious problem, affecting countless animals every year. In Nevada alone, reports indicate that Animal Cruelty incidents have Surged by approximately 30% over the last 5 years. Many cases of Neglect, Abandonment, and Direct Cruelty are occurring without a way to track offenders. The absence of an official registry allows these abusers to continue operating unmonitored in communities, putting more animals at risk."

Transparency is a cornerstone of protecting animal welfare and maintaining public trust in the adoption process. In response to growing concerns about animal cruelty, Nevada Animal Advocates has launched the state’s first public registry of convicted animal abusers.

Grounded in the passage of Reba’s Law in July 2025, this groundbreaking resource provides rescues, shelters, veterinarians, and the general public with court verified information, empowering them to make safer, more informed decisions and ensuring that animals are placed in responsible, compassionate homes.

The Nevada Animal Abuse Registry offers numerous benefits, including enhanced protection for animals, informed decision making, and increased public confidence.

By screening prospective adopters against the registry, organizations and individuals can prevent known offenders from acquiring new animals and break the cycle of abuse. Beyond practical safeguards, the registry also serves as an educational tool, raising awareness of the consequences of animal cruelty and demonstrating Nevada’s commitment to robust animal protection laws.

Independently maintained by Nevada Animal Advocates, the registry is continuously updated with community input and legal oversight, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Best practices include routine screening of potential adopters, careful verification of registry information, and ongoing participation in workshops and training. Public involvement - through volunteering, advocacy, feedback, and education - is vital to sustaining the registry’s impact. By leveraging this innovative tool, Nevada communities collectively uphold a culture of responsibility, compassion, and accountability, shaping a safer future for all animals in the state.

At Whiskers, Paws and Love®, we stand passionately behind the Nevada Animal Abuse Registry because every life matters and no animal should suffer in silence. This vital law protects vulnerable creatures while also reminding humanity of our moral duty to act with compassion, accountability, and vigilance. By empowering communities to prevent abuse and uphold justice, we are safeguarding not just animals, but the very conscience and integrity of our society.
