“The task force will focus on charging serious animal abuse throughout the Central District of California.”
"Cat Torture Videos are being shared 5 times more than they were 8 months ago = A new torture video was uploaded every 2 hours and 38 minutes in February 2025 — up from every 14 hours in June 2024 — according to the activist group Feline Guardians and investigation agency Nexus. In the first 2 months of this year alone, over 300 abused cats have been identified."
“If You Witness or Suspect Animal Abuse, you can report it at tips.fbi.gov or call 1-800-CALL-FBI.”
The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a dedicated federal task force to combat severe animal cruelty under the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act. This marks a significant step in the federal government’s commitment to addressing animal abuse and holding offenders accountable. Announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, the task force will focus on investigating and prosecuting the most egregious cases of animal cruelty, including those that cross state lines and the creation of “animal crush” videos, where animals are tortured for entertainment or profit.
Based in the Central District of California, the task force will serve a region home to over 20 million people, including major cities like Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino. This area will now see increased attention on serious animal cruelty cases, from neglected pets to those exploited in illegal video markets. The task force aims to bring justice to often forgotten victims of abuse, offering them a fighting chance and ensuring their suffering is no longer ignored.
The task force is supported by key agencies, including the FBI, USDA Office of Inspector General, LAPD, and City Animal Control, and is already making its presence felt on the ground. Recently, the team conducted an outreach mission in Skid Row, Los Angeles, checking on animal welfare, offering support to pet owners, and rescuing an abandoned dog. This on the ground action highlights the task force’s broader mission to not only protect animals but also create safer communities, as animal cruelty is often linked to other violent crimes.
*At Whiskers, Paws and Love®, we deeply applaud the creation of this task force and its unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us. Every animal, no matter how small or forgotten, deserves to live a life free from harm and cruelty, and this initiative offers a beacon of hope for those who have long been silenced.
We stand in full support of this groundbreaking effort and are inspired by the dedication to not only hold abusers accountable but also to heal and uplift the spirits of those animals who have endured unimaginable suffering.
